I need to always be proud of myself but sometimes I have to have a reminder!

That is what im working on!

FOR SURE! We hate on ourselves A LOT! I was in the mirror the other day saying okay you need to work on this and that and then I stopped. I looked at myself and said YOU BE PROUD OF YOURSELF. You are looking better than you ever have and you are being healthier than you ever have. YES you have imperfections but you be proud of what you have accomplished so far and SO I AM! I will never be perfect and that is okay! I can be proud of how healthy I am and my stronger body and even proud that I teach my kids and friends the importance of being healthy! I need to always be proud of myself and sometimes I actually have to remind myself to be proud! SHOCKER, huh?!?! ha! Let’s all say to ourselves BE PROUD! Be PROUD about who you are, what you have done, and what you WILL do! You are a strong and powerful person! Set your mind to it and ANYTHING can be done!

EMPOWER and HELP! DON’T DISCOURAGE!

Have to start somewhere

This is soooo true! HEY, who cares what I look like! At least I am trying my best to be healthy! You have no idea what another person has been through. They may have a medical condition, depression, etc… and are working their butts off! They don’t need your shit to add-on to an already stressful life!

Get out there and be healthy! Even if you feel like everybody is staring at you at the gym OR you are in the health food aisle of the grocery store with eyes on you. It doesn’t matter what everybody else thinks! What matters is getting yourself healthy! Be the best that you can be! We all need work – no matter what NOBODY is perfect!

Bottom line don’t judge or hate – EMPOWER and HELP! DON’T DISCOURAGE that goes for ANY body type – fat or skinny! No negatives about  ANY BODY! Just SPREAD THE LOVE NOT HATE!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse.

“If it is important to you, you will find a way.

If not, you’ll find an excuse.”

-unknown

I hear so many excuses of why something can’t be done…even from myself a lot of times. Stop making the excuses and start making your life what you want it to be!

Pull it together and focus on what you want and find a way to do what you want to do!

On the go breakfast – in my RED SOLO CUP

Who doesn’t love to wake up with breakfast ready in a cup to go?

This has been simply fabulous! My red solo cup of oatmeal is my new BFF!

I have been getting a red solo cup and putting 1 cup of steel-cut oats  in it, pouring about 1 1/2 cups almond milk (unsweetened 30 calorie per serving one) stirring in 1 scoop of whey protein powder (my flavor of choice has been vanilla) and blueberries (mine were fresh and I froze them). I stir everything up and put a piece of foil on top. That is it! I wake up and throw a disposable spoon in it and go! I know some people put in the mason jars but that is just one more thing for me to have to worry about getting back home and washing after the oatmeal has sat and crusted all day. I know it’s not very earth friendly but for now with 3 small kids this is what I have to do to make sure I eat breakfast!

Russell doesn’t like the protein powder in his oatmeal but it doesn’t bother me! Gives it a sweet flavor and I get extra protein. Now there are a lot of ways to make them you can use vanilla, almond, caramel flavorings and so forth, different berries and fruit, different protein powders (or no protein powders) nuts, soy or regular milk just get creative and build it to your taste! I have made it with water instead of almond milk and of course it isn’t quite as tasty but hey water if free and has less calories! The one I have done above is so easy that I just keep going back to it! For a while I was making this hot but then decided to try the cold way in the fridge. (If you make it hot: Make your oatmeal as normal add a little extra water or almond milk when it comes out of microwave or stove top to stir in the protein powder and then stir in blueberries.)

UMM LOVE THIS, no cleanup! I just grab it on the way out the door, I eat it walking up the stairs to work or while pulling up someones pants to get them dressed and to school. Trying to get 5 people fed and dressed in the morning can be quite a chore for Russell and I. Sounds pretty easy to feed a kid and dress him but between meltdowns about not wanting to watch what the other kid is watching, packing lunches, fights about going to school, baby who just wants to be held and fed plus dirty diapers things get crazy quick! Not to mention if they hear the shower going you better believe a kid is about to join you, which makes the process even slower.

This has been so easy and has kept me full until lunch..you heard me I have been skipping my morning snack because I am just not hungry!

Now go to the grocery store and buy what you need to make next weeks breakfast healthy, easy, and fast!

I’m back in the saddle! LET’S RIDE CLYDE!

I’M BACK! Sorry for the hiatus! My last post has been quite some time ago! I had Grey and Beck at home all summer and then the last two weeks Noah joined them. Russell was gone to Boston for work and had a little procedure done, he is Chamber president as well as Lieutenant of the fire department and we are building the house so time has been an issue to say the least. I had so much going on that I had to pick and choose so I had to let the blog go for a bit so I had time to work out. Workout or Blog? I needed to workout to tone up this post baby body….so I made the choice to help myself this time around. Sometimes you just have to focus on yourself and that is what I had to do. I mentally needed the workout and physically needed it. I hate I couldn’t motivate some of you for a bit but I am back to try to help you get your mind right!

I have had lots of questions how I did it. I know it is exhausting and you feel like you can’t do it! Grey is still getting up for a 2/3 am bottle. I don’t let it stop me! It is very difficult TRUST ME but I KNOW I NEED the workout! I just give it my best and that is what I have to be proud of! Some days I would squeeze in 2 or 3 workouts (short ones) and usually I had 3 kids hanging all over me. Sadly, Noah did get stepped on one day while he was working out with me.

I did a lot of different workouts this summer. I swam laps at the pool, ran just a bit, biked a few times, Barre, PiYo, and 30 min Max. I am loving Shaun T’s 30 Minute Max because I can always squeeze in 30 minutes, it is a killer though! I was cleared at the first of June to workout so I have been working out for two months now. There is a local triathlon in 5 1/2 weeks so I want to try to do it BUT I am back at work so swimming and biking are going to be difficult to do. When the DSU pool opens back up (hopefully next week) I will go two times a week at night and then on the weekends. The bike is probably only going to happen on the weekends. Running I hope to squeeze in at lunch or in the afternoons before I pick up Grey and Noah! I am not worried about swimming and well the bike I am always slow but I still shout TAWANDA even at my 10/15 MPH  pace…so I will probably  be slow again and I have accepted that! The run is what I am worried about! UGH the heat index this week was 115 actual temps were around 103. Hitting the pavement is hard already then add high temps. I am going to really focus on my running the next 5 weeks and just build muscle in my legs to help with the biking. This time around I just have to do what I can do- I am working with tiredness, post baby body, 5 week training time while having 3 kids and work – I have a lot against me but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. SO I PLAN to participate in the triathlon here at DSU… 500 yard swim, 18 mile bike, and 5k run – pretty easy start-up, right?

Side NOTE: I never updated on Grey I have had some messages about him! We went to the neurologist and he is great! His soft spot can be seen and felt now and the skull you can see is moving around and looking so much better! We are very lucky and blessed to say the least! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!

So here we go guys! Back in the saddle! Let’s do this!!
