Try it, Try it, YOU MAY LIKE IT!!! NEVER SAY NEVER!

This Saturday I was supposed to swim for 30, bike for 30, and then run for 30! WELLL let me start over – really April the 12th I was supposed to do this BUT I had Beck’s Birthday that weekend and then the next was Easter so I am just now getting to do this…my training guide is a little messed up right now, ha!

ANYWAYS, I have been worried about what I was going to wear. WHAT can I swim in and run in that will hold my boobs in place! I talked with a girlfriend of mine who has done some triathlons before and she is letting me borrow her outfit! WOOHOOOO! That saved me some $ until I decided I like these and want to keep competing! Plus, it helps me know what I like and what I don’t. She let me borrow her swimsuit top and triathlon top/bottom. So I put the swimsuit top on, ummmmm yeah right! I jumped a few times to give it a test (AGHHHHH FLASHBACKS to 7th grade running track with a size D chest** and guys standing around the fence to stare at my boobs- YEP this is not a lie- I have had boobs since…well hell since I can remember! I think I came out of my moms womb wearing a bra! ha No really, I did start wearing my first bra in elementary – no joke.   Boobs have been my life forever – I have been asked if they were fake about a billion times now. No they are not fake. *Nobody made awesome sports bras back then, so I would wear 2 and 3 sports bras trying to tame them….needless to say I ended up quitting track* Anyways back to the swimsuit top she wanted me to wear…ummm yeah right! Russell had a good time watching me jump up and down but I was like ohhhh hellll no! SOOO I put on my Juno bra and decided to give her the triathlon test! I put my bra on and then the triathlon shirt and shorts.

I went swimming but didn’t swim for the full 30!  My niece and nephew were spending the night so I had left Russell with 4 kids from ages 1 to 9. I knew I couldn’t be too long! lol I swam two warm up laps and then did my 400 meter swim. Then I rode my bike for 30 mins and  ran for 30. ANY CHAFFING????? NOOOOOO!!! My JUNO BRA worked PERFECTLY!!! The back was pretty dry the front was still wet but it didn’t chaff or bother me! This is my smaller size Juno bra so it doesn’t move AT ALL! So make sure you get it tight! The triathlon clothes were pretty dry and I felt great! I was excited to get to try all of the gear out first! Thanks Lisa for letting me borrow it! I have a feeling I will be buying my own after this race! I really did have fun Saturday just doing it by myself! Now I know what I like and what to look for! SO for you ladies with larger boob issues I suggest you try the Juno bra! Give her a test! She is perfect for any type of exercise and I have loved having her! *As I mentioned in my first post about her make sure you get a tight one – the larger ones chafe me!

How were the brick legs you ask??? NOT BAD!!! I guess because Thursday I rode my bike for 10 miles and then ran so I was pretty prepared – it was hard for the first mile and half but then it got better but man oh man you feel like your legs and feet are made out of concrete or “bricks”. Saturday I kept a little slower pace but not terrible! It was around a 10:30 pace. I figure that triathlon day I will actually keep slower pace than Saturday for several reasons. First off in the swimming portion I am use to swimming in the pool and of course race day it will be an open water swim. I had Russell swim in my lane the other day to get me use to people being around me and the whole time I was wincing hoping he wouldn’t knock me out plus some of his water splashed in my mouth so I am thinking my swim time will be a slower one. The bike…lets just face it ..I will be slow! HA I have a little thicker of a tire,  straight handle bars, and I am not clipped in so I won’t be the fastest around by any means. I am thinking it will take me 4 1/2 minutes per mile but who knows! For the run I know I will be slower just from the tiredness of swimming and biking before hand and its the last leg…I expect to finish in 2 hours or a little less *maybe * just depending on transitions, etc…

Overall I am SUPER excited and SUPER nervous! I don’t care if I am the last one because I NEVER thought I would even participate in one! SO I am all in this for the fun and exercise! I use to say I would never run a half marathon or compete in a triathlon… NEVER SAY NEVER!!! Maybe I can talk some of you into competing as well, just maybe I will 😉

OHHH PHARRELL what a GREAT song! Even my little kids LOVE it! 

When I hear this song I automatically start smiling, clapping my hands, and doing a little groove.  Whenever you feel bummed just turned this song on, roll down your car windows, throw on some sunglasses and be happy!!! We all have things that can get us down! If I concentrate on everything around me and just how bad it is I can stay in a bad mood! BUT guess what I don’t! I hear things and see things and just try to move them to the side! I MAKE my life HAPPY! I TRY to enjoy every moment like its my last…because it could be! Do I want that last moment be to me sad or mad….hell no! I want to be dancing, smiling and I want to be HAPPY! I am in control! I WILL be HAPPY! If you can’t make yourself happy doing everything just start trying to do a few things a day! If you have trouble doing that do something everyday that makes your truly  happy and it will eventually come! I am grateful for everything..for every breath I take and for every flower blooming! We live in a cruel world but also a very beautiful world! Try to stay positive and upbeat! We don’t need anymore downers in this world…so try to be a positive role model for those around you! 

We forget to enjoy the little things because we get use to it. We get use to having clean water to drink, we get use to having air conditioning, a cozy bed, a good book, a good meal! We get sooo use to these things we aren’t grateful for them anymore.  Think about people who are drinking dirty water and have no food or no home. Be happy with what you have! When we forget about all these good things we lose focus on being happy. Happiness doesn’t come from an Ipad, Iphone, TV….happiness comes from within. Material things will only make you happy for a short time. Find happiness in things around you that will last. Loved ones, making memories, trying new experiences and so forth. I can say my happiest times are playing in the back yard with my kids, laying in a pool or on a beach, eating dinner with friends and family, reading a good book, doing yoga, dancing, and a few other things! I really enjoy it all! I love sitting outside reading a good book, I love having drinks with my girlfriends or dancing with my boys in the kitchen to Elvis. I love them all for different reasons and try to enjoy every aspect of what I am doing. 

Go home today sit outside with your sunglasses on and a cool drink in your hand and catch a few afternoon rays – OH and I suggest playing some really good tunes while you do!

HERE IS A PIECE OF HEAVEN….copycat Chick-Fil-A Sandwich!! by Skinny Mom

A Little Piece of Heaven!!

A Little Piece of Heaven!! Even better – throw away plates = less clean up!

Last week I was going to make this for dinner but Russell ended up being the Chef for the night! ha   He was a little irritated making this because our non-stick wasn’t big enough so he had to use the other pan and the chicken was sticking a lot – he was wanting to use more oil …no, no, no Russell – hahaha! ANYWAYS – I said okay – so what is the deal with these? He just go mad because they kept sticking and wished he could use more oil – that was it! IF we had a bigger non-stick (note to self- need a new non stick larger skillet) everything would have been fine!

I bit in and it was HEAVEN!!!! OMG just like CHICK-FIL-A!!! You can make the chicken tenders the same way pretty much! I would LOVE to eat these just plain with a side!! I felt like I was eating the most terrible thing but it only had 180 for the chicken! We made the sandwiches with wheat buns (100 calories) and pickles so the sandwich was around 300! Perfect for those days when you just want a piece of fried chicken and don’t want to blow your calories for the day!

 Prep time: 1 hour

Cook time: 10 minutes

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ cup sour dill pickle juice
  • 2 Tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg white
  • ½ cup skim milk
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp celery salt
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • 2 tsp coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Wrap the chicken breasts loosely between plastic wrap and pound gently with the flat side of a meat tenderizer until chicken is about ½ inch thick all around.
  2. Cut each chicken breast into two equal pieces (equal size cutlets), as even as possible.
  3. Marinate the chicken breasts in the pickle juice for 30-60 minutes.
  4. Add egg, egg white and milk into bowl and whisk.
  5. Combine the flour, sugar, and spices in another bowl.
  6. Dip each chicken breast piece into the egg mixture on both sides, then coat in flour mixture on both sides.
  7. Heat the coconut oil in a skillet to about 345-350 degrees.
  8. Place chicken breasts in the pan, and lightly coat in coconut oil. Fry each chicken breast cutlet for 2 minutes on each side, or until golden and cooked through. (ours took longer than 2 minutes!!!!)
  9. serve on toasted buns with pickle slices or like Russell did bad bad Russell added ranch!

Don’t let yourself stop you from all the things you want to do!

A lot of the times we don’t accomplish all that we can because of ourselves.  We tell ourselves NO and CAN’T DO IT. We let fear stop us from being who  we want to be and doing what we want to do! We don’t travel to Europe because we are afraid of airplanes. We want to run in a marathon but tell ourselves we can’t. We don’t go on beach vacations with family or friends or take a lap in the pool for exercise because of  the dreaded BATHING SUIT!! There are all these reasons we convince ourselves not to do it. The only thing standing in the way of our goals is ourselves!  Make you a list right now, a bucket list! What all do you want to accomplish before you die? What would you like to do? Run a 5k? Tell a person your sorry? WHAT???? I have just two things that I can think of for my bucket list that are left. I have accomplished pretty much everything else and I am 30! OF COURSE, I AM ALWAYS ADDING TO THAT LIST! Make that list and then sit down and see what all you could accomplish in the next 6 months or year! Even little things count! Maybe on your bucket list it is to try this restaurant  that has been open for years right down the street and you keep saying I am going to try that place one day. Maybe it is to get your degree from college, run a 10k, visit NYC,  or it could be that you want to sky dive! Whatever it is start marking some of those things off your list. Brush those feelings to the side and just do it! Talk yourself out of being scared and fearful! When you are feeling that fear it means something new and different is happening in you life…it means a challenge is happening! Don’t stand in your way of the life you want to live and who you want to be! Take control and accomplish everything you want to do, because I KNOW YOU CAN!

TODAY IS THE DAY! I WILL GET HEALTHY..FOR ME!! JUST FOR ME!! I OWE IT TO MYSELF TO LIVE A BETTER LIFE!

Get healthy for YOU!   You need to be healthy so you can enjoy life!  You should be able to walk your dogs and not be out of breath, run at the park with your children, play tennis with your significant other, hike with a friend!  GET HEALTHY FOR YOU, so you don’t miss out on fun activities that you will regret later!

My mom has finally paid attention and gotten healthy for HERSELF! She wants to be around and be able to walk on a trip or take her grand-kids to the park. If she is unhealthy she will miss out on a lot of those fun times! She is getting healthy for herself but in the long run it affects everyone around her! 

So decide – TODAY IS THE DAY!!! I WILL GET HEALTHY…..FOR ME!! JUST FOR ME!! I OWE IT TO MYSELF TO LIVE A BETTER LIFE!
